  GOVT EXPRESSES CONTINUED DESIRE TO UPLIFT YOUTHS

 Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says his administration remains resolute in its desire to give youths a pride of place in the society, to enable them contribute their quota to the development of the State.

 

Governor Abiodun gave the assurances at the year 2022 National Youth celebration at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, with the theme " Economic impact of ISEYA mantra on youth development".

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, Abiodun stated that the ISEYA mantra was aimed to stimulate development of the State to benefit all categories of ages, especially the youths, describing them as key stakeholders in the ’’Building Our Future Together’’ agenda of the current administration and assured of their continued inclusiveness in governance in all sectors of the economy.

He said, "we have created so many opportunities for our young ones in all sectors such as ICT, Education, Agriculture, Sports, Trade and investment, among others for all-round posterity and better future for our youths’’.

Earlier in his address, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, said the issues around young people had been brought to the front burner and would be addressed accordingly, saying ‘’ the theme for the event was apt as government had intensified efforts to curb social vices among the youth through provision of employment opportunities, among other things to enable the young ones to excel in life and be employers of labour’’.

Dr. Oluwadare expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for providing various platforms for youths in the State to maximise their potential for self-reliance and national development.

The keynote speaker, Mr. Reuben Abati, represented by Mr. Idowu Johnson,  spoke on the theme for the celebration, said there was a need for the youth to embrace all the programmes of the government on the ISEYA arrangement, adding that the economic impact of the mantra was massive on their wellbeing.

In their contributions, panel of discussants; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, the Commissioners for Industry, Trade and investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe, Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, as well as Culture and Tourism, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo pledged their respective agencies’ support for the emancipation of youths.

Welcoming participants earlier, the State Chairman, National Youth Council, Comrade Abduljabar Ayelangbe, said the essence of the Day was to showcase contributions of the young people to the development of the country, lauding the State government for empowering the youth.

Groups present at the event include, members of the National Youth Council, selected members of the National Youth Service Corps, representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students, members of Junior Chamber International, Red Cross Society, Boys Scout, Nigeria Girls Guild, among others.
