WHY GOVT MONITORS FOOD VENDORS UNDER HGSFP- COMMISSIONER
Hon. Ilori- Oduntan disclosed this during a monitoring visit to some public primary schools in Abeokuta, noting that it was imperative to know the progress of the programme and evaluate the level of compliance of all stakeholders involved.
"The government will not rest on its oars in ensuring that our pupils are fed in the most suitable and hygienic environment while the Ministry needs to do more monitoring so as to check and see the kind of food the vendors are preparing for our children”, the Commissioner stated.
She charged the vendors to be diligent in the discharge of their duties, and ensure that pupils were served adequate and nutritious meals in line with the vision of the programme.
In their remarks, the Headteachers, Methodist Schools 1 and 2, Ago-Oko, Mrs. Serifat Adeye and Titilayo Kuforiji respectively, appreciated the government for the laudable programme, saying it had stimulated increased enrolment of pupils in public primary schools.
Other schools visited include, Itesi Methodist 1 and 2, Adatan, Baptist Day Nursery/Primary School 1 and 2, Idi-Aba, among others.
