OGSG SYMPATHISES WITH VICTIMS OF FIRE EXPLOSION
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has sympathised with the families of victims of the petrol tanker explosion which happened in Araromi town, Sagamu Interchange on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Olufemi Ilori- Oduntan, while on inspection at the scene of the fire incident, prayed against such in the State.
On his part, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), CC Ahmed Umar said the unfortunate incident which occurred at 2:10 am on thursday morning, was caused by a truck that collided with a parked fuel tanker along the express, resulting in a fire explosion and affecting lives and vehicles.
Umar said an advocacy to discourage people from night journeys would be put in place, while night surveillance by armed security personnel would be instituted to curtail such avoidable situations. He also called for 24-hours surveillance along the expressway.
In his remarks, the Director, Ogun Fire and Safety Service, Engr. Fatai Adefala enjoined drivers to always exercise patience while on the road, avoid speeding and overloading their vehicles to arrive at their destination alive.
